Metro Detroit: Plymouth’s Post Local Bistro

Downtown Plymouth has become one of the hottest areas around for dining and nightlife and the Post Local Bistro is a popular location for good food and live entertainment.  Located at 844 Penniman, The Post, which was formerly The Rock Bar & Grill, was opened by Jim and Jennifer Dales in 2013 and have been going strong ever since.  The Dale’s were not new to the restaurant business, having owned a number of other Post Bar locations in Ferndale, Auburn Hills, Detroit and East Lansing until 2007.  While those locations were primarily bars first and restaurants second, they vowed to make this location a destination for all ages and they started with the name, Post Local Bistro.

Metro Detroit: Plymouth’s Sardine Room

In 2012 the Yaquinto family opened The Sardine Room.   They were not new to the restaurant industry. They started in Dearborn, with Paisano’s Pizza over 40 years ago. In the early 2000’s they opened Campari’s On The Park, a very popular downtown Plymouth dining location.  Around 2009 they opened Fiamma Grill (which is currently being renovated) right next to Compari’s. Finally, in 2012, The Sardine Room was born. If you live in the surrounding communities, you are likely familiar with at least one of these 3 locations

Metro Detroit: Plymouth’s The Ebenezer

As you may know, we love going to unique bars and restaurants . . . especially if they have a cool history behind them. A while back, we featured The Shelby Detroit (downtown) which is a Speakeasy located in the basement of an old bank. Well we are back with another Speakeasy, except this one you don’t have to venture to Downtown Detroit to enjoy. Instead, just head to Downtown Plymouth to The Ebenezer, Plymouth’s first and only Speakeasy.

Metro Detroit: Plymouth’s Max & Bella’s Smokehouse

You all know I love BBQ. I love to make it, and I really love to eat it! The making of BBQ comes easy to me . . . . buying it not so much. BBQ can be expensive. It’s worth it, but it’s expensive just the same. So I am picky where I get it from. If you are scaling it out (charging by the pound) then you are not likely to get my business. This leads me to this week's Beckerz Bites Fun Food Friday location: Max & Bella’s Smokehouse.

Metro Detroit: Plymouth’s Hermann’s Olde Town Grille

This week we are venturing to Plymouth, specifically Plymouth’s Old Village, to Hermann’s Old Town Grill. We don't know how we haven't featured Hermann’s in the past. It is the type of place we are drawn to, and only a few miles from where we live. It is a great neighborhood bar/restaurant that has everything we look for when we go out. A great selection of domestic and craft beers, nice pour of bourbon, good food, lively atmosphere, game room and a moose head over the bar.
