Metro Detroit: Northville’s Hudson Cafe

This week we are going to the Hudson Cafe.   We have known of the Hudson Café for many years and have eaten at their downtown location a few times.  Just recently, they opened their 2nd location in Northville , on Haggerty Road between 6 Mile & 7 Mile Roads. A 3rd location is coming to Troy, later this year or early next year.

Below are pictures of the Detroit and Troy locations.

The owner, Tom Teknos, opened his first location in 2011, at 1241 Woodward Avenue, in anticipation of the comeback of the downtown area.  And WOW has his vision paid off with the Hudson Site Development right across the street!

Hudson Café, named after the one-time department store on Woodward, is an awesome spot for breakfast or lunch featuring classic egg, pancake and waffles dishes as well as some interesting takes on eggs Benedict, omelets, sandwiches, salads and burgers.   We are very excited to have them so close to home now.  We love the vibe of the restaurant as well as the delicious food they have been consistently putting out for the past 12 years.

I’ll admit it. I am a breakfast snob.  I like a good “greasy spoon” breakfast and I usually steer clear of “fancy schmancy” breakfast places. Come on, it’s eggs, meat, potatoes and toast.  How hard is it to do?  Well to some places, even some fancy ones, it’s apparently very hard, but not for Hudson Café.  They have consistently good food, with large portions that make you feel like you got your money’s worth.

A few of our favorites are their Mexican omelet made with Chorizo, onion green pepper and tomato served with house potatoes.  Their Huevos Rancheros are another favorite - a cheese filled tortilla layered with house potatoes, ranchero sauce, sour cream and guacamole.  We added the Chorizo for a little added kick.  Very yummy.  Their sandwiches are good as well. The club on multi-grain bread and Woodward burger are delicious.  As previously mentioned they also have salads, benedicts, and lots of nice looking sweet treats if that is your thing.

Bring your appetite and you won’t be disappointed! IT’S A PRETTY POPULAR PLACE . . . YOU SHOULD PROBABLY MAKE RESERVATIONS. We used Open Table.

Until next week . . . Live well, eat well and enjoy life!
