Metro Detroit: Redford’s Murphy’s

It’s Friday and that means it is time for this weeks Fun Food Friday.  We love small diners, especially ones you can tell are family owned and operated.  Places that take pride in their food and their family heritage.  This week we are going back to one of our favorite diners for breakfast: Murphy’s in Redford.

We featured Murphy’s a little over 3 years ago in 2019 and felt we needed to give them another shoutout since we love going there so much.  Murphy’s is everything you could ask for in a family-owned diner.  It’ small enough to be quaint, yet spacious enough to not feel cramped.  They only seat 40-45 people so when they are busy (especially on the weekends) there is typically a wait…but it is worth it!  The décor is everything Irish everywhere you look.  Like I said, proud of their heritage.

If you grew up in Redford you know Murphy’s.  Since Kevin Murphy and his family opened their doors, in 1983, they have been going strong. They have survived many setbacks, as any family establishment can and will face.  Family emergencies (we are sure they have had a few), a fire in 1993 and then of course the COVID shutdown, which ended up killing many establishments, large and small.  We love Murphy’s because the service is always good, the staff is always friendly and the food…well we will let the pictures speak for themselves.  We only wish the yummy smells could also be captured in these photos! When you pull in the parking lot, and get out of your car, your mouth will start watering! The only thing we can say we don’t like about Murphy’s is that they are still in Redford and we are now in Livonia.

Murphy’s is located at 26009 5 Mile Road and is open M-F from 7AM to 3PM and Sat-Sun from 8AM to 2PM.

Until next week…Live Well, Eat Well! Enjoy Life!
