Metro Detroit: Farmington’s Rolling Stoves

It’s Friday and that means it is time for this weeks Fun Food Friday.  This week we are going for burgers.  There are a number of places we could go to in our area, but this is one we only recently tried and can’t understand why it took us so long to get there.  This was a burger spot we mentioned in our July post for the Burger Bash that happened Downtown…The Rolling Stoves in Farmington.

The Rolling Stoves was started as a food truck in 2012, by the husband and wife team of Josh & Carli Mansfield, before food trucks were “all the rage.”  They grew their following, and in 2019 they opened their permanent location on Farmington Rd just N of 8 Mile.  Rolling Stoves is all about the butter seared smash burger.  You know the ones that get the crusty crunch on the outside but stay nice and juicy on the inside.  The seared crusted beef also adds a nice layer of flavor.

While The Rolling Stoves focuses on burgers they are not just burgers.  They have (of course) fries and onion rings, chicken strips, a couple salad choices PLUS vanilla, chocolate and strawberry shakes . . .  YUM!!!  We ordered their burger flight, which comes with 3 of their burgers (a smash cheese burger, the PB&B burger and The Rodeo Burger) the BBQ Ranch Salad and the burger of the month, The Italian.  It’s a burger with grilled salami, pepperoni, melted provolone, pesto, banana peppers, sliced onion and red wine vinegar.  My favorite is their PB&B Burger which has creamy peanut butter, bacon, cheese, honey onions and pickles.  Don’t judge it until you try it.  If you are a peanut butter fan you might just like it.

Everything is cooked to order and there is plenty of room for indoor seating as well as an outdoor patio when the weather is nice.

Rolling Stoves is located at 20780 Farmington Rd next to Dunkin’ Doughnuts and is open M-Sat from 11AM to 8PM and closed on Sunday.

Until next week…Live Well, Eat Well! Enjoy Life!
