Detroit: Corktown’s Supergeil

We are excited to announce that our ultra cool website, for BECKER HOME ADVISORS, will be going live next Friday. This website is dedicated to our mission to Eat Well and Live Well and will incorporate all of our FFF posts as well as important information and guidance for all things real estate and mortgage. Tune in for next week’s Fun Food Friday for our LIVE video from one of our favorite restaurants.

Back to food: This week we are featuring a new place in Corktown: Supergeil. We first heard about this restaurant during the Eat Detroit event a few weeks ago. Sadly, because of the rain and power failures in Corktown, we were unable to try it, but it looked so awesome from the outside . . . So, of course we had to go back and we are so glad that we did! Their outside dining area is almost as big as their inside dining area, and there is a mini bar outside set up in a shipping container with this super cool patio area on top. Next time, we are sitting there.

Supergeil, according to their website, is “inspired by the energy and food of Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. Not unlike Corktown, it is a neighborhood on the edge of center. It’s a multicultural place where artists, students, and Germany’s largest Turkish population live together.” They pride themselves in their farmer/chef relationships, using seasonal ingredients and doing scratch cooking.

Their menu is influenced by the fare of Eastern Europe down along the Mediterranean coastal towns of France, Spain and North Africa. The atmosphere is pretty laid back with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. All the staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable about their food and drinks. There is a variety of cool food on their menu as well as a nice selection of specialty cocktails and it wouldn’t be German without “light and dark beers”. Their special sandwich is the Döner which comes in Lamb & beef, Chicken or eggplant for the vegetarians in the crowd. We ordered the lamb and beef Döner which was loaded with fresh vegetables, the Kreuz Burger and an order of their fries which are served with chilies, aioli and scharf sauce…they were spicy but delicious.

Supergeil, which has been open since July of 2021, is located at 2442 Michigan Ave in Corktown right across the street from Two James Distillery, owner David Landrums other Corktown establishment. They are open Tues-Thurs from 4PM-11PM, Fri-Sat from 12PM-1AM and Sunday from 11AM-8PM.

Until next week…Live Well, Eat Well! Enjoy Life!
