Metro Detroit: Livonia’s Las Palapas

We featured Las Palapas a little over 2 years ago, in June of 2020, as we were coming out of the COVID nightmare that ended up killing a few of our favorite restaurants and bars.  Las Palapas has survived the test of time and is still going strong.  The reason…great atmosphere, even greater food and of course great service.

We usually get carryout from here, but today we decided to dine in.  The food is always amazing! Teresa and I usually share the Monster Burrito which is the size of a small dog.  It is loaded with steak, chicken, sautéed peppers and onions, rice, refried beans, black beans and served with pico de gallo, guacamole and sour cream.  While our son Dylan has been known to take down a whole burrito in one sitting, we find it adequate to share between two.    Also…there is something special about the steak they serve.  It is some of the best steak we have ever had at ANY Mexican restaurant…super flavorful and extremely tender.

This time around we didn’t go for the Monster Burrito, but instead I had the Grande Steak Burrito with red sauce and Teresa had the Build Your Own Combination with a fried flower taco, and a tostada.  We also ordered a small side of guac and extra hot salsa for the chips.  There are so many other good items to choose from…everything we have ever had here has been amazing!  On top of the food they also have a great bar featuring many varieties of Margarita’s, tropical drinks and tequilas.

Las Palapas or as Teresa calls them Las Plaplaplas…is located at 33308 Plymouth Rd just East of Farmington in Livonia.  They are open M-Th from 11AM to 10PM, Friday 11AM-11PM, Sat 12PM-11PM and Sun 12PM to 10PM.

Until next week…Live Well, Eat Well! Enjoy Life!
