Metro Detroit: Grosse Pointe Park’s The Charlevoix

This week, for Fun Food Friday, we are venturing to The Charlevoix in Grosse Point Park. Our intention was to get to the Cadieux Café . . . but they were not open at the time we were in the area, so we happily called an audible and ended up here and what a good audible it turned out to be.

The Charlevoix is located at 14927 Charlevoix just east of Alter. I was thinking of the best way to describe this place and nothing says it better than their website. “Landing in a comfortable space somewhere between bar and restaurant, The Charlevoix is a true neighborhood joint. Comprised of four simple sections (Snacks, Wings, Tacos, & Po' Boys), our menu offers an elevated take on drinking food staples – adding just enough creativity to keep things interesting while exercising enough restraint to know when not to touch a classic.”

Of course we had their chicken wings. We ordered the Japanese Style (one of 7 different styles offered) served with grain mustard, ponzu, marinated cucumber, scallion and topped with wasabi sesame seeds. We also had their Charlevoix Cordon Bleu Sandwich. A buttermilk fried chicken breast with grilled ham, Swiss cheese and herb dijonnaise. Both were insanely delicious and of course we wanted to order one of everything on the menu.

Their menu, while limited, has something for everyone’s taste. There are a good number of vegetarian and vegan dishes plus plenty of selections for the carnivores out there. The space is open and bright and they have a wonderful bar area serving up some wonderful craft cocktails and a nice selection of craft beers. The Charlevoix is open M-F 4-10, Sat 12-10 and Sun 12-8.

Until next week…Eat Well! Enjoy Life!
