Metro Detroit: Northville’s Art & Jakes Sports Bar & Grill

This week we are going to Art & Jakes Sports Bar & Grill in Northville.  What is Art & Jakes?  We didn’t know either until recently.  Art & Jake's is a chain of sports bars, founded by Victor and Brenda Trpcevski, in 2002 in  Shelby Township.  7 years later they opened their 2nd location in Washington township and then followed with other locations which were opened in 2014, 2016, 2017,2022 and now their latest endeavor in Northville in 2023.

There are a lot of sports bars around, but not all of them do it right.  This one, in our few experiences, is doing it right.  The space is nice and open, with a horseshoe shaped bar situated right in the middle, and dining on both sides of the bar. There is also a pretty good size outdoor patio, with fireplace tables for those cool evenings.  They have over 60 TV’s playing every sporting event imaginable.  It’s a great place to meet friends to watch the big game. There is not a bad seat in the house! However, it can get pretty noisy when they are full.

Now on to the food . . .

They have covered all the bases here: Sharable appetizers (which are ½ off during happy hour M-Th from 2-5), Wings (traditional or boneless) and Hand Dipped Chicken Tenders, 12 different salads, 10 different burgers, wraps, panini’s, grinders and other great sandwiches.

I absolutely love that they have pictures of their food on their website menu. Here are a few items:

For the south of the border flavors they offer tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and fajitas.

They have a huge selection of entrees as well with flavors spanning the globe.  For some Asian flavors, try their cashew chicken or sesame crusted ahi tuna, their Island Chicken or mango glazed salmon may make you think you are in the Caribbean.

the Shawarma Chicken Bowl has great Mediterranean flavors, and some old school Italian with their Chicken Parmesan.

They of course also offer some great cuts of steaks, pastas, deep dish pizza and flatbreads.

In our few visits we have tried the following and enjoyed everything we have had: From their apps we have tried the southwest eggrolls, pork belly burnt ends, sweet heat cheese curds (or cheese turds as Teresa refers to them) and potstickers.

From the main menu we have only had their fish-n-chips and it was not just delicious it was colossal.  4 pieces of thick cut cod served with a pile of fries, we highly recommend it.  It is enough for 2.

We saw so many other menu items go by that we wanted to try, the grinders, nachos, tacos and so much more.  This is definitely a place we will go back to again and again to try new and exciting items.

Art & Jakes is open Sun-Thurs from 11AM to 12 AM and Fri and Sat from 11 AM - 1 AM.  They offer happy hour from 2-5 M-F offering 50 cents off drafts and well drinks as well as ½ off their sharable apps.

Until next week . . . live well, eat well and enjoy life!
