Metro Detroit: Livonia’s Mr. Miguel’s

This week we decided that Mexican was in order and we are featuring a new restaurant that opened late last year, Mr. Miguel’s. This is a place Teresa and I have been talking about since it opened but had not been able to get to since they don’t open until 2PM Mon-Thurs, but we were finally able to made it happen. Also when it comes to Mexican food we are creatures of habit and usually lean toward Las Palapas in Livonia or Las Gallinas in Mexican Town.

Back to Mr. Miguel’s. The restaurant is a pretty big place on the inside…bigger than we expected. We sat in the bar area, which is usually our favorite place when we eat out. We ordered a couple of Dos Equis Amber Ales (we are not tequila fans so margaritas are not our thing but they did look good) with their chips and salsa to start while we looked over the menu. Their salsa is some of the best salsa we have had in a Mexican restaurant. We couldn’t stop eating it! There was something in it that I couldn’t pick out, but it was good and made the trip worth it even before ordering. We decided to order their fried flour beef tacos and the Mexican pizza. This was not a Taco Bell Mexican pizza it was a 12 inch fried flour tortilla topped with beans, beef, cheese, lettuce, pico and cilantro cream. It is served like a pizza and it was as good as it looks, the tacos were also very good.

Mr. Miguel’s is Located at 39305 Plymouth Rd just east of Echols and are open M-Th 2PM-9PM, Fri-Sat from 12PM to 10PM and Sunday from 12PM to 8PM. They also have other locations in Warren and downriver in the Woodhaven/Brownstown area.

Until next week…Eat Well and Enjoy Life!
