Metro Detroit: Krispy Krunchy Chicken of Plymouth

It’s your favorite Realtor and it’s Friday that means it must be time for this week’s edition of Fun Food Friday.

A couple weeks back we featured Pump 5 Grill- located in the Mobil station at 5 Mile and Middlebelt in Livonia. Since then, I have researched other gas station food options (as one does) as well as taking suggestions from others. Tim Diggs mentioned Krispy Krunchy Chicken is popular down south where he lives, and Kathleen Engleby also gave them a big thumbs up. Who out there doesn’t love good fried chicken? I know I had seen Krispy Krunchy Chicken in my local travels and found they are in a few locations around us as well so we thought we would give it a try.

Teresa and I went to the Plymouth location which is located in the Shell station on the southeast corner of 5 Mile and Beck. We took one look at the menu and said to each other “we want one of everything!” We ordered a good variety to try and get a taste of everything: a 4-piece chicken, some Cajun chicken tenders, a chicken sandwich, waffle fries, mac & cheese and jambalaya. We really enjoyed the chicken and chicken tenders. They were very juicy and fresh . . . . even after the 15-minute drive home. The chicken sandwich was very tasty, but kind of small. It was only $4.50 so it wasn’t bad for the price. Waffle fries were awesome as well as the Mac & Cheese. We weren’t a fan of their Jambalaya, it was just seasoned rice, or like Chinese fried rice kind of.

So, the big question is…would we go back? The answer is absolutely! The chicken was better than KFC, but not as good as our favorite Lee’s Famous Chicken who has the best chicken tenders ever. We’ll save them for another post down the road.

Until next week…Eat Well and Enjoy Life!!!
