Metro Detroit: Ann Arbor’s Blazin’ Coop Food Truck
This week we are in Ann Arbor, at the Blazin Coop’s Nashville Hot Chicken, which is a food truck/trailer. It is located in the parking lot of the Shell Gas Station at 3240 Washtenaw Ave, on the SW corner of Washtenaw Ave and Huron Parkway. Blazin Coop is a brand new venture, started by brothers Alex and Sonny Nasser, that specializes in Nashville Hot Chicken.
Alex & Sonny’s love of Nashville Hot chicken came to them while working in various kitchens and led to them opening Blazin Coop. They are hoping to expand including the possibility of opening a brick and mortar location in the downtown Ann Arbor area. I am confident they will meet this goal sooner than planned.
Their menu is simple, with just 5 items: their signature chicken sandwich, chicken tenders, chicken tender tacos, a grilled cheese and loaded fries, which are my favorite. You can choose your spice from no spice to “Blazin”, which is made with Carolina Reapers and requires you to sign a waiver when ordering. And…No we are not that bold. Medium was our spice level of choice.
We have tried many food trucks and many Nashville hot sandwiches. Blazin Coop is the real deal. They cook everything to order, so it may take a little longer to get your food . . . but it is worth the wait! The sandwich is not just delicious, tender and juicy, but it is HUGE.
On our first trip we ordered the Chicken sandwich with the loaded fries which are topped with Nacho cheese, Coop Sauce and loaded with spicy chicken.
Our 2nd trip we had the tacos and loaded fries.
We still have not tried the grilled cheese and the chicken strips . . . but I am certain we will soon. The nice thing is the food travels well, they are in Ann Arbor which is a 20-25 minute drive to Livonia, and it was still fresh and hot when we got home.
Blazin Coop is worth making the trip to AA or a great place to stop on your way too or from the games on Saturday. They are open M-Th from noon until 1AM, F-Sat Noon to 2AM and Sun form 2PM – 10PM. Hours may be subject to change in the winter months.
