Metro Detroit: Redford’s Mr. Chicken
With all the new chicken and rib places popping up all over the metro Detroit area, let’s not forget about the places that have been around “forever” and are still doing it right. Looking for some "Fun Food" for this weekend, give Mr. Chicken in Redford a try for some delicious broasted chicken and fall off the bone ribs. Mr. Chicken opened their doors in Redford in 1972 and have not looked back. 51 years later they are still serving the best broasted chicken around and are often called on to cater summer parties and graduation parties.
We recently went to visit our friends Mike Reinholtz (Mr. Chicken), Donna Reinholtz (Mrs. Chicken) and their daughter Nicole (baby chick?) recently, and as always we were not disappointed. We often get their food to go but this time we decided to dine in so we could chat with them and catch up on their news. Their son Justin, a Livonia Police Officer, is getting married this year. Justin and Riley recently bought a house thru us, so that makes everyone family as far as we are concerned. 😊 Justin played hockey with our son Dylan in elementary and middle school.
We ordered the broasted chicken and ribs combo with broasted chicken, broasted potatoes, BBQ ribs, and their yummy Cole slaw. The chicken has a nice crunchy crust while staying moist and juicy on the inside and the ribs fall off the bone and have a nice char grilled flavor. Everything was as good as it looks. When you go there, make sure to order extra . . . it makes great leftovers. They also offer other items like fried shrimp, fish n chips, chicken and fish sandwiches but are primarily known for their chicken, ribs, cole slaw and broasted potatoes.
Mr. Chicken is located at 26601 Plymouth Rd on the SW corner of Plymouth and Hemmingway and they are open daily at 11AM through 9:30 Sunday thru Thursday and 10PM Friday and Sat.
Until next time, live well, eat well and enjoy life!
